A lesson about vaccinations from Gus Dear little Gus acquired the feline distemper virus, panleukopenia. We gave him his very best possibility to make it by ensuring he received the superb supportive care that Tufts VETS in Walpole provides. Gus did his part and tried his hardest to battle this devastating infection, but his body could not continue to fight and he lost the struggle.
Feline distemper is 99% preventable with vaccines, so please let Gus be a reminder to all that it is of utmost importance to keep our pets current on their vaccines. See your vet, or search the Internet for options such as Petco clinics and other low-cost providers.
We hope all pet owners realize that serious health issues can crop up unexpectedly, and consider appropriate pet insurance to assist in times like this.
BSAC stands behind all our cats and treats each one as an individual case. If there is a chance to make it through a trauma, disease, or condition, we will pursue it. Because this becomes quite costly, we welcome any donations to restore the thousands of dollars depleted from funds we collect for cases just like Gus’. We have four additional highly expensive cases we are concurrently working on.
If you would like to donate, please send a check made out to Bay State Animal Cooperative, Inc., to 47 Windsor Rd., Norwood, MA 02062. Thank you! Any amount will make a difference. BSAC is a 501(c)3 charitable/non-profit organization. All donations are tax deductible.
